Experience
Dr. Strayhorn has also served as a liaison with various agencies including the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), the Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the County Probation Department.

Working With Adults
“Where are you now? What are your needs?” Dr. Strayhorn always asks those questions to his adult clients before starting therapy and counseling sessions. It is essential that he understands where they are at this point in their life and what aspects of their childhood history or life patterns they have brought into their current relationships.

Working With Children and Adolescents
Dr. Strayhorn believes it is natural for children and teenagers to push boundaries and challenge rules. That is their job. When working with this age group, it is his job to help families reconstruct and organize into a healthy and functional being. This can be achieved by combining cognitive behavioral interventions with an emphasis in psychodynamic awareness.

While working with the dual diagnosed teen population and the pregnant teen population, he has had the opportunity to help families with small children, from newborns to age five, in the attachment and bonding relationship between mother and child.
